Looking back, Eames knows the changes he's gone through. He remembers the man that had sat at Mal's side, and he knew the man he'd become together with Arthur through the program.

"I won't say you haven't become one of the best teams out there. Everyone knows that Meridian is the yardstick against who we're all measured against but..." He fixes Mere with a hard look. "But tell me you don't think you're a better warrior now. Because you know why you're going in there and how you have to come out."

Because he's always known. He's known he has to always come out on the other side with Arthur. Whether it's through a dream or a warzone. He will do whatever he has to so that when the day is over, he is there with Arthur and they're together. Any other answer is not acceptable.
